Friend of the 21st Century
Her friend cared for herself far too much.
Photos, trends, and blank, careless words.
Who was she to herself?
She seemed so shallow, so empty. Was her soul in her self photographs?
Who was she to anyone else?
She fought for “feminism”, “equality”, “individuality”. Yet she only seemed as if she was fighting for her image.
A liar.
Was she using such platforms to really make a difference or just using them on her quest for “fame?”
Isn’t feminism when women lift one another up?
I don’t feel lifted up when I’m with you. In fact, I feel broken down and worthless.
You want “equality”? Then why do you use such a loud and violent voice to beat down others who have a different belief than you? A belief that was formed by the media no doubt. You’re creating division.
Hypocrite.
So much for your “individuality.” You’re one out of a million babe. Some rebel you are. All the same, all alone, living for your phone.
Who was she to me?
No one, but I thought she was my friend. Sometimes I think that’s just what she wants.
Building up a wall that shows a fake life. Competition, jealousy.
Wouldn’t you rather be friends? Be happy?
A life captured through the lens of a phone is no life at all.
Open your eyes, and use your God given lenses to see. There’s a world out there, a world the media doesn’t want you to know.
It may seem as if were falling apart, but take a look around.
Would you stop self-fulfilling prophecies and creating problems that never existed.
We’re not that bad. Come on. Underneath all the facades, were all just skin and bones.
There's no need to fight, no need to march.
Just be kind and do whats right.
One small act of love is the only thing that can heal the wounds we’ve made.
Stop trying to look like a saint to the many, and be a friend to the few.
That’s all we need….
I can see my friend who cared for herself too much, caring for others much more.
It was a perfect society in my head.
